Salmon Fishing Oroville CA

Our first time Salmon fishing in Oroville CA Feather River. got some nice size salmon. Then visited the damn and slaughterhouse where they swim their whole life to reach.
Very hard fighting... strong from swimming up current since hatched in the ocean.
We all had a blast and made the paper. I hope to someday return considering all the restrictions made in recent years due to mass commercial fishing (IMO).
We were using 30-60lb braid w a 20lb mono leader and for avid Deep Sea Fisherman they gave us quite a work out! Seen lots of rods broken that first day.

War Zone, Happyland... an amazing experience.

you may have snagged more fish but you will never CATCH more fish than the locals, anybody fishing on the walls of the outlet are simply snagging fish, anybody fishing with beads are doing the same, snagging fish! To get a real bite, a voluntary bite, you need to fish with spinners, kwik fish, or bounce some roe!!

Yeah we used beads on a couple... Along w a few LURES on some. To be honest  I'm actually quite use to catching more than locals at places I've never fished (as usual they do not like it).

Anyway, you are a lucky guy to live in that great fishing area.

I don't go up there often, but my friends that do say you guys are spoiled (in a good way).

I'd like to see you come to So Cal and outfish us.

You know what Salmon fishing on the Feather is WAY better now that they closed down that area around the outflow. It was snagger city, oops I mean flosser city. Snag enough salmon and get enough tickets written in any one area and eventually DFG will shut it down. They really need to ban flossing already, and you can go do you know what if you think a fish who hasn't eaten since it hit freshwater will hit a 5mm bead! Dreaming!

man salmon fishing on the feather river sucks now, it's a thousand feet below the outlet since last year and it's seasonal now...BS...
