One of the best RPGs ever! While waiting for the Witcher 2 to be finally released, I've decided to play the first one - again, this time on hard difficulty. Logically could not advance Gerald's (the protagonist) level high enough to make it without potions and oils.
Preparations:
First I apply insectoid oil on the blade (silver sword with a Sun rune and two Earth runes - damage +30%, blinding +50%, knockdown and precise hit +25%);
Next I drink a swallow for faster vitality regeneration; and finally tawny owl for quick endurance regeneration. Then rush through the first hall of the cave toward the passage to next one, draw the sword and prepare to use the group fighting style.
Kikimore queen starts burrowed and just when I enter the passage comes out and starts chasing me. It is very, VERY difficult and painfully boring to try to deal with normal physical and magical damage. And she instant kills with a single swing.
So I advance as fast as possible toward the next hall. But the entrance there is blocked by her children - a swarm of kikimore workers and a few kikimore warriors. I literary have to cut through them and reach the other passage out of the second hall and to keep my distance from the queen. I've always liked the flaming Igni magical sign, and have it quite well developed for my current level. Together with the slashing swings of group style swordfight I slay and push the venomous insect just enough to clear a path for me - killing all is mission impossible. Soon the queen comes right at my back, when I do the forward jump. After some more hack, slash and fire bursts she is again dangerously near to me and I barely manage to avoid her claw swing. The path is clear, the second passage ahead, all kikimores are behind me. Pause, switch to Aard sign, turn around and slowly move backward while fighting. Casting the sign causes the supports to crush, I move a bit deeper safely into the corridor and watch the entire cave collapse on the queen and her minions, effectively killing all. Looting her body gives me the needed quest items and her nerve, which later I will mix in a very useful potion. Some rocks fall in other end of the corridor, providing an exit. This BOSS is finished; on the way out I grab some minor loot from a crate, and head towards the cut scene and chapter IV.
Surely there is a faster way of doing it - precise Aard casting on supports in the first passage, then second hall entrance, both rocks there collapsing and considerably slowing the queen, so real fighting is not necessary, and too easy ;).
Ingame video capture: Fraps. Video converting: SUPER ©. No audio.
there's an easier way to deal with kikimore queen. just send aard to every wooden support and kikimores will flee from battle (and you don't need to fight them all)

@kiniston69 Try using a Blizzard Potion...you'll be able to run to the body that has the moon rune before the
kikimores get there. It also makes the rest of the battle much easier.
