Went to feed and Muffin's hock was twice the size it should be! Cold hosing it helped reduce the swelling. He's not lame or in pain so vet said to keep an eye on it and keep cold hosing it. If it gets worse or he goes lame call him ASAP.

There's a small wound on his hock like a scrap so I'm keeping an eye on that to see if it's infected.

  • is the scrape under that big bone on the back of his leg b/c my horse has that and i was wondering would that make him scrap or drag his foot he wont let me pick that fot up but anyway beautiful horse

  • @melissabea, The scrape is on the side of his hock, not the back. I had the vet out to take a look at it and he said is was not a Capped Hock or Bod Spavin. The leg just swelled due to the scrap but it's not infected and the swelling has gone down to normal size now. Muffin was never lame during this.

Your horse needs to get looked at if he's lame and swollen. It could be a Capped Hock or a scrap that got infected. Get him checked out asap or it could damage his hock joint permanently.
