This is crazy. PSP face plate is easy to change however backplate is hard. I would not recommend any one to do this to there PSP unless you really know what you doing.

@drummerjedediah to the right of the thing that spins the UMD there is a laser, very gently wipe the lense with a Q-tip

you don't need CFW because it is a Hardware modification, however the risks are fairly high if you aren't very careful... You can end up breaking the hinges on the door causing it to not stay closed and ergo you won't be able to play UMDs. hope it helps!
