An undercover investigation from France 24 reveals how little regard China's widely trumpeted "harmonious society" has for animal rights. Some 80 zoos and safari parks across the country offer visitors a gruesome perk: paying to feed live animals to hungry predators.

  • China is going nothing wrong, really. They want to keep the habitat as close to nature as possible and therefore having to feed the lions live stock. I do agree that they should be a little more gentler when it comes to "throwing" the live stock into the pens.

Don't blame China, after all it's not like every country is a ray of sunshine and rainbows.

  • So throwing bread to ducks is ok, but throwing ducks to cats isn't? These birds are killed more humanely than most of the meat we eat. You can't apply human morality to animals.

  • wtf is the issue? i used to feed rabbits to a 10 ft burmese python

  • @newguy33X lol how could u know so much about anmals instinct, are u animal shrink or something?

  • There's always that "this could lead to worse and worse cruelty, jadedness, etc. idea too. "They'll be throwing children next!!" could be shouted, but it's not too damn likely. Like many other cultures before it, China may be sensitized to animal's feelings.

  • The animals are learning that people = food is coming...and what will they want to eat if you don't throw them something. It's not teaching them to hunt. It's entertainment for money. For some reason, sometimes cruelty is entertainment...so many examples across the globe and time. As far as the sacrificed animals...most countries sell live mice and goldfish to feed to pet snakes or pet predatory fish, respectively. These animals were marked for death, and this is pretty quick.

  • so what did we learn here? That lions eat live stock?

Everywhere in the world people eat meat, is it better if you don't see it?

How do France lions feed? God to a salad bar to go with some wine?
