The Rock N Roll Revival took place less than a month after Woodstock, NY on September 13, 1969 at Varsity Stadium in Toronto. Promoter John Brower blended popular fifties acts Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and Jerry Lee Lewis with new rock groups Chicago, Alice Cooper, Cat Mother, Whiskey Howl and headliners the Doors.

Brower experiencing weak ticket sales contacted John Lennon in England offering complimentary flight and tickets - just to attend. Lennon's reply...I would like to perform. Still in the Beatles, John brought Yoko Ono, Eric Clapton, Klaus Voormann and the Plastic Ono Band to the festival.

Local media giant CHUM radio refused to believe that Brower had secured John Lennon, and broadcast their doubts on their radio station.

Both the Doors and Lennon were escorted from the Toronto Airport to downtown Varsity Stadium by the Vagabonds Motorcycle Club.

Alice Cooper's infamous "chicken incident" took place, with both Lennon and Morrison watching the event from the audience.

D. A. Pennebaker filmed the concert of the Plastic Ono Band, as a rock documentary called "Sweet Toronto." He is also credited for Dylan's "Don't Look Back."

Ticket for the concert was $6.00. The concert was 13 hours long with the Doors closing the show. This is a poster from the Rock N Roll Revival.
