August 21, 2009 Team Fortress 2 Update

Bullet spread algorithm changed to fire a bullet right down the crosshair under these circumstances:
-The first bullet of a spread weapon (except for rapid fire spread weapons like the minigun)
-The first bullet of a non-spread weapon if it's been 1.25 seconds since firing

  • shame few of the weapons are hitscan cuz i would love to get headshots on unsuspect engis/snipers

  • Everything that uses bullets in TF2 is hitscan pretty much.

And only the Rifle, Hunstman, and Ambassador register headshots.

  • isnt hitscan the one where different body parts means more damage?

  • Hitscan just detects whether the shot hit.

Different parts meaning more damage is something else. Whether it hits the head hitboxes, if the game registers headshots, etc. In TF2's case, only three weapons do more damage if they hit the head hitbox.

  • Very helpful.

  • I think the rifle takes more than 1.25 seconds to shoot anyway.
