Are you fucking kidding me? A 747 at full thrust creates 48,000lbs of thrust on each engine nacelle, thats 192,000 lbs of thrust on take off ... you put that kind of power on a funny car and you'll cross the finish line in less than half a second...the 747 is a heavy aircraft...you can't compare an elephant with a mouse! Try the space shuttle, which creates 1.5 million pounds of thrust at 100%

@faostube I know that the 747 reference was put in there for a "wow" factor, but I would like to think that most people would realize that the fuel consumed vs. power created is relative to each vehicle. I wish people wouldn't compare wheel driven propulsion to jet propulsion. Two completely different things.
