@Ohitika54 Nah If done right it would have been good. I thought they did a pretty good job of presenting what the Dune series was really about. That was showing a world enslaved by one man's vision, then being broken by a tyrant and set free upon his death, and then a universe full of surprises where man is free to live moment to moment. Honestly, I think Herbert was wiser than most of us even suspect.

@Ashleyls17 It's not absolutely necessary to read the books but it is a definite plus. Frank Herbert has a very unique writing style full of details and grandeur that's lost on film. I love both the movie and the TV series but they are interpretations of the original works. I think it's best to read the novels and see them in the "theater of the mind" before you see them on screen.

What I love about Leto is how he goes to such great lengths to prevent anyone from ever repeating what his father and he were able to do. A tyrant on a mission to prevent that tyranny from repeating itself, that is a leader.
