  • I looked up Eloisa to Abelard, what a beautiful sad poem. No, fly me, fly me, far as pole from pole;

Rise Alps between us! and whole oceans roll!

Ah, come not, write not, think not once of me,

Nor share one pang of all I felt for thee.

How happy is the blameless vestal's lot!

The world forgetting, by the world forgot.

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!

Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd

    I wish I'd studied Pope

  • I'm quite glad you enjoyed it! It's a lengthy but touching piece.

  • Hi poetess so glad to see you back doing what you do best, using your mind, playing with words. Both poems are beautiful. I like the first because it was written in a period when its views were current so I can relate to that. Your poem is equally beautiful but its form style an ideas sound a bit dated. It's not a sin to love someone. Perhaps if you had written as an Asian woman facing an arranged marriage you would have been spot on.

  • I agree, it isn't a sin to love. However, sometimes one can regret some of the things they do for what they feel is love- giving up too much of their emotional self and not retaining anything for themselves, neglecting older relationships and other things that are easy to slip into and not notice, unless something goes wrong in the relationship. Then, they must deal with both. Thank you, as always, for your wonderful words.

  • Yay,,my poetress is back(not sure if that's a real word),,anyways,,awesome poem,,Beautiful!

  • Thank you sir.

  • Very well done.

  • Which pains the heart the longest, heartache or regret? I would say regret. Heartache, though it fades, becomes a part of your fabric. Regret, on the other hand, steps forward on occasion to ask what might have been done differently or how has it brought you to where you are now.

Your words can be provocative. They usually give me something to think about.

  • Do you recite the poetry you write, from memory, while in front of the camera? Impressive Stefani, as always!

  • Beautiful phrasing. And you know how much I enjoy hearing you recite. Meanwhile, Pope is smiling.

  • You're just too sweet! :-)

  • I feel honored to call you a friend. Your mind is beautiful - I suppose that was a movie, but for you it is truth.
