I love the comment by hz11287 about Rick not cheating because they had 2 kids.....since when has that held back any man from cheating?!? Kids or no kids guys (and women) cheat if they really want to.

Rick says in his book (GO GET IT, by the way!) that he knew the script sucked but was cajoled into doing it w/the promise that the script would be tweaked/re-written/improved. Oh well.
