  • Amazing. Where is part 2?

  • There was't part 2 - I didn't ask to record after cello solo, sorry...

  • Боря-молодец!

  • Пасиб! :)

  • Boris, I realized that you, as the poster, are also the soloist! Your playing is very moving and your tone is beautiful! Are you the Principal Cellist for the Bolshoi? I sure wish you could have recorded the entire piece. I love the performance. Did you enjoy playing this VW piece? I like Vaughn-Williams writing for strings. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • @lifanovsky

Well, you screwed up! But I thank you for at least posting this part.

  • This performance obviously deserved to be recorded in its entirety using the fullest possible resources of highest quality!! Beautiful instrumental playing, notably from the principal 'cellist; towards the end of the excerpt, one really notes how beautifully the great pipe-organ (Aristide Cavaillé-Coll's very last instrument) blends with everybody else. Lovely singing from the soloist, and if this had been recorded right, likely the choir would have proven no less great too...

  • Finley's singing is absolutely sublime - string playing is extremely sensitive and musical and great energy from choir!

  • I've had this on cd for many years. Imagine how sublime it must have been to be the first person to ever have it in his head. Surely this and the Tallis fantasia must be his greatest works ?

  • Absolutely outstanding performance. I only wish the entire piece were recorded.
