On 26th March MICE organisers gathered at Meza restaurant in London to sample delicious Maltese culinary delicacies as part of the Malta Tourist Offices Taste of Malta evening. The evening gave MICE organisers from the UK the chance to sample some of the Mediterraneans best cuisine as well as meet and hear from the large number of Maltese DMCs, hotels and conference venues that were on hand to showcase their services.

Whilst feasting on Maltese delicacies such as figoli almond cakes, local goats cheese and wine, Maltas top DMCs, hotels and venues demonstrated why the island has been winning accolades from impressed clients as it seeks to establish itself as the Mediterranean destination of choice for MICE organisers. High standards of service and professionalism, excellent meeting and conference facilities for groups both large and small and the charm of a historic island blessed with a temperate climate and 300 days of sunshine a year, all combine to provide what is a truly unique offer in the world of MICE travel.

Maltas collection of elite conference venues and hotels continues to flourish - only recently the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre, a 7,000sqm venue capable of accommodating 22,000 people, opened on the island adding further to the wide range of conference properties on the island. The last decade has seen a large growth in the number of DMCs in Malta and this year, to ensure continuing quality, the Malta Tourism Authority has introduced a new quality assurance system the Quality Seal that guarantees service excellence and consistency for prospective MICE organisers. Quality Assured DMCs are listed on the MTA website at: http://www.visitmalta.com/destination-management-companies

The evening at Meza was a great success. Malta Tourist Office was pleased to host a cookery demonstration by former Malta Chef of the Year, Oliver Grech, who helped the guests create some of Maltas famous figoli almond cakes. Maltese beauty therapist Phyllis Muscat was also on hand for a little pampering and there was entertainment from Maltese jazz musician Vinny Vella and violin virtuoso George Curmi.
