This is a kind of documentary mash-up to go with my other Mash Hits videos to help explain them.
I thought the best way to explain the problems that people have been having with using copyrighted work would be to have them explain it themselves. I hope you don't mind if you see yourself here!

Basically some cover songs have been removed from YouTube for copyright infringement, so I decided to make Mash Hits (http://claireashfield.com/mashhits.html).

I'm interested in remix culture and how people are transforming existing media into new and different things. However all of this media is owned by media giants, so amateurs can often get their work removed and they don't have a say in the matter. Some people think that copyright laws need to be revised for the internet generation.
