Remos G3 LSA takes off from golf course

Pilot David Plucker of Rocky Mountain Sport Aviation takes off from Applewood Golf Course in Golden, CO 5/9/08 in a Remos G3 LSA. The aircraft was brought in by trailer to exhibit at the American Association of Airport Executives golf tournament. Upon approval from a local FAA representative it was decided to exhibit the short field take-off characteristics of the German made LSA.

Did they give you a hard time when asking for permission to do that or were they pretty easy to work with?

It took most of the day trying to get permission from our local FAA contact, they were very confused about catagory of aircraft (LSA). They finally gave permission with the understanding that the pilot was fully responsible for the safety of the operation. They also asked that we be very cautios of low flight over the neighboring homes.

I loved the comment: "How awsome". What's so awsome about a "cookie cutter" airplane, that costs a gazillion dollars!! Hey, you pilots and "pilot-wann-a-bees" - BUILD ONE; you know, wood and fabric or maybe assemble a nice RANS S-9 fully aerobatic plane (with engine about 15K). This one costs what, 90,000 dollars? Bet I don't miss it by to much of a margin. All of "these" planes look, and basically are the same. Be more original!!!!

LSA are the future - we just need inexpensive airplanes!
