1st things 1st. Stoney you and I both know you didn t kill Gary's version. But, you nailed your's. After all, that s what you were hoping for. Your version was really good. No disrespect. But Gary is Gary. Stoney, I pray that you never live the life and heartache that Gary did. Just Please, be respectful of your peers. It goes along way.

That might be true, but what it ISN'T is Country Music City.
I can go with "Fucking" music city because it's what they do to any musician and anything that remotely resembled "Music" when it arrived there.
But since you know so damned little, I'm sure there's no point in trying to educate you by telling you that, if you want to learn what COUNTRY music is, come to Texas and you might (though I doubt it) learn something of value.

ONLY difference in these versions is that Stoney is doing solo acoustic. It's got nothing to do with "Texas vs. Nashville"

i agree, but i gotta give gary stewart credit he did write the song, but i love the stoney larue version its the best in my opinion. randys is good too stoney just gives it soul!

this is by far the best version of this song, sure gary stewart's was ok..but its still more nashvillish, stoneys is straight texas, doesn't get any better!

No one has ever done this better than the one and only Gary Stewart. This is good....but remakes just don't do the song justice....
