IN THIS EPISODE CHRISTEN AND EID DISCUSS THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE CREATION STORIES IN THE BIBLE AND QURAN AND THE EFFECTS THESE DIFFERENCES HAVE ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN IN CHRISTIANITY AND ISLAM.
@humzahumzahumza I'll just add for the moment, that my own view is that Christian faith rightly belongs to the Jewish context. By this I mean that faith in Christ is right but that the Hebrew roots of the Torah should not be neglected as if replaced by the New Testament. This also means that the Church does not replace Israel for the promises of God (known as 'replacement theology'). The prophecies of the Bible all indicate that Isreal is and will be central to God's plans!
@humzahumzahumza No Christ didn't preach the trinity. At that time, it was not thought necessary to define God in this way. That only came about because of disputes of belief among early churches and it was felt a need to define what was truth from what was heresy.
I enjoy exchanging with you too. God bless you and your family.
@humzahumzahumza Therefore, much of the church has never been in Europe and cannot be said to be "westernised". Jesus was an Israelite, not a Palestinian. He did indeed speak Aramaic, but also Greek and Hebrew. He was able to converse with a Syro-Phenician Greek speaking woman and was stated to have read the Torah in the synagogue, which was written in Hebrew. No, he didn't ask for worship, that is true, but he didn't rebuke those who did! He was quick to rebuke wrong!
@humzahumzahumza Take for example "the rich young ruler", who "followed all the laws from his youth up", but whose heart was set upon his riches! Jesus told him "go and sell all you have & then come and follow me!" He went away dispondently because although he was exceedingly religious, his heart was not truly submitted to God but hardened in sin.
@humzahumzahumza Christ did not come to "confirm the Torah and law", but to FULFILL IT! There is an enormous difference! but Islam will teach you that Christ came to confirm the law, because it hasn't looked at the scriptures properly. Rather, Christ came to turn the whole religious establishment, upside down, because it followed the law meticulously, but sinned by hardness of heart!
@humzahumzahumza As the KJB translates it "you shall in NO CASE enter into the kingdom of heaven" (unless your righteousness exceeds the Pharisees, whose zealousness for keeping the Law to the letter, was so extreme that it resulted in sins of omission of mercy, compassion etc - hence the story of "the Good Samaritan"!
@humzahumzahumza This was confirmed by Christ himself when he said "For I tell you that UNLESS your righteousness SURPASSES that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven" - Matthew 5:20. What Christ said here is that even the most devout Pharisee devotedly following the Law with his utmost, falls short of entering Heaven! Christ said something MORE is needed to enter Heaven!
@humzahumzahumza This is why "You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody" 2 Corinthians 3:2. - believers are to be not just outwardly observing the Torah/laws as the Pharisees did, but inwardly be and live out the Torah through faith in Christ by the indwelling Holy Spirit.
@humzahumzahumza Paul meant that those who take Christ as their righteousness, receive the Fulfillment of the righteousness of the Torah because "for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life" 2 Corinthians 3:6.
