On Wednesday, April 15, more than 900 health care workers from across the Commonwealth attended 1199SEIU Advocacy Day at the Massachusetts State House with a mission to protect health care jobs and quality care. A rally at the end of the day had a special focus on Boston Medical Center (BMC), the most charitable hospital in Massachusetts, where massive budget cuts pose a major threat to health care jobs and patient care. 1199SEIU members have spearheaded the formation of the Put Patients First coalition, a powerful and diverse group of health advocates backing the use of federal stimulus money to restore cuts at BMC.
