Clem Cattini, founder of the Tornados, drummer on 100s of top 40 hits and around 45 number ones paid a visit to a variety concert we were doing in aid of Children In Need in 2009. Two hours before this video was shot Clem, the band and I were persuaded to perform a rendition of Telstar (The first UK single to make number 1 in America) because we sort of knew how it went.
This is the result.
MY NAME IS MAX CATTINI.....

Super pleased to see this. As a long time drummer Clem is one of my influences and the hits he's played on shine because of him. His sound and style are unmistakable and his contribution to music and music history should be remembered.

Crosscatch: many thanks, fascinating stuff. I got the info from the Joe Meek Society magazine, but Clem was incredibly hazy about exactly what he had played on. It was suggested that he may have been the drummer on Tom Jones 'It's not unusual ' and he said 'I might have been'!!

@oldpaw Actually, that was Robbie Graham who played on YRGM. Cattini played on plenty of things though. I was surprised to see that he played on HURT by Chris Spedding. That was a fine piece of work.

Great to see Clem the legend in action and you did him proud guys.....if a little overawed looking! Did you know he drummed on The Kinks 'You really got me. '? Just recently found that out. Amazing. Thanks for posting.
