@nthnyRchrdsn he actually is just resting. most well trained squirrels which i mean squirrels people feed and such and are not afraid of humans will tire out and rest like a dog running around.

People are saying he's either warming/cooling himself against the pavement, which makes sense enough. But if that were the case, I'd expect to see this as a fairly common behavior among squirrels. Is there any other purpose for which a squirrel would act like this?
