  • Mmm- an intelligent (good-looking) cook! He has a valid point about Soul Food being more than just food. It's about heart, bonding, connection- the depth of love that comes from Family.

    U-GO-G!

  • no pplease dont sell out to food network you are an amazing black cook and i dont want you to be spoiled by the mainstrem

  • hes right

  • I wonder why he never made it to Food Network. I think "Big Daddy", is a cheap imitation for G. Garvin. He would definitely bring something desparately needed to Food Network that I think the Neely's miss on.

  • @culturedgrapes Couldn't have said it better myself....Aint nothin like mama's soul food to warm your heart and your soul....! Dang now I'm hungry....!

  • One first has to understand the background of the cuisine to truly master it. You first must ask why it was prepared and its true purpose.

If this cuisine is to go main stream, I prey we never lose sight of how the meals brought comfort to families in often uncomfortable times and conditions.

    Soul + Food = HOME!

  • G Garvin God bless you!!!

  • as good as soul food is, we're the only ethnic group not making a killing selling our food to other races in this country.

we got sports & rap, people need to jump on soul food too lol

  • Good view on the background and power of soul food. Hopefully soul food will reach a wider acceptance and audience like most european cuisines. But in case it doesn't ... so what. It's still the food that helped to build America - and that's a part of history that will "never" change. Peace!

  • G. Garvin answered a question I have long struggled with.

Thanks G. That means a lot coming from a chef of your stature.
