Orion Bus Industries - Beaver Bus Lines 1988 Orion 01.509 #41

A ride aboard Beaver Bus Lines 1988 Orion I model 01.509 #41 from the Beaver Bus Lines garage to Pembina Highway in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Powertrain is the Detroit Diesel 6V71N two stroke engine and the Allison HT-740 transmission. This bus is in beautiful shape and still solid as Orion I's always were aside from some structural rusting issues.

The engine in this could be a 6V92TA, for that's what the CPTDB database suggests.

I always have a feeling the CPTDB can be wrong on the powertrain of many dated fleets.

Will they ever make a bus that dosen't 'smash crash and rattle' ?! Even our newer New Flyers make so much noise when you hit a bump you can't hear the radio! We had Orions before I started at Kingston Transit. When I started we had Orion V's and VI's.

Oh I love the sound of that HT740.

And ya know it's an Orion when you hit a bump in the road and it sounds like every window on the bus just shattered. I used to drive a 1983 Orion V. Fun bus to drive.
