It's a known fact that subies have more power out of the factory... Yet an Evo can (and will) still beat one... With almost 25 less HP... Why is this? because the Evo's computer is smarter, the turbo spools faster, the Evo has DYNAMIC traction control, and they still managed to fit all this inside a LIGHTER car... What does the STI have? it has a bigger turbo, and a bigger engine, that's it!

atleast mitsu stayed true rally with their 2.0L engine, subaru didn't...

dude i own an Evo 8 and i really respect ur opinion on the 2.0 wrx, and ur soo right i would sink money into a wrx before buying an STI, dollar for dollar WRX is better than an STI... both Evo and WRX are amazing cars

@spenser8806 Actually, the Evo has a bigger turbo factory. This is why you see Subaru guys using Mitsubishi turbos. They're just more efficient. As for the person saying, "dollar for dollar the WRX is better than the STi", what exactly are you thinking? This is sort of like saying a Z06 is better than a ZR1.

As an STi owner, I've often found myself longing for the other side of the fence, but, ultimately, I'm still a Subaru guy. Why? It's something that I can't explain.

@spenser8806 Evo's are better out of the factory. Good job captain obvious. That's why you don't leave an STi stock. Otherwise get a Honda.

yeah but most people only take their car to the track 2 or 3 times a year anyways. your average STi/Evo owners dont go every weekend like me :) like i said i NEVER had a single issue with my WRX or my STi (which i currently still own). the WRX had 72k miles on it. and the STi has 54k miles on it.

I've heard different stories with the WRX. Glass tranny. The sti is fairly well built, but if you plan on tracking or dragging the car, your not gonna use oem parts right? So why complain about quality when its gonna be replaced anyways?

FYI i was more upset with the quality of my DSMs than either my WRX or STi. i would say they are one of the most reliable cars on the road. but that might be my bias and 10+ years of working as a mechanic.

subaru isnt using the 2.5 to their fullest potential. you cant put a 600whp on the streets for any joe blow to go out and buy and wrap it around a phone pole. much like the evo FQ400 there is a litchfield type 25. both cars have their ups and downs. i find my subaru FAR easier to work on than any of my DSMS. and i have NEVER had ANY mechanical issues with my car. even with it at stage2 it has been amazingly reliable.
