This great five-volume series, by Guido Knopp, examines the naivete of German youths in the 1930's and 1940's. This is the only documentary I have seen that focuses on the way the Nazis used children to conduct their war. In the final segment of the series, we get to hear how the Hitler Youth were disillusioned as they were sent to the front lines to fight Hitler's war. Some of them reached the front at the ripe old age of 12 years.

  • What an imoral thing to do, send children to war and to make ethnic cleaning! The worst thing about it is that it is still going on in places like darfur!

  • They probably hate it! What a dumb fucking question!

  • it was not hitler who really did the work of improvement of the economy, the people who financed the national socialists party, are the ones who worked through him. he is credited with the actual improvement of the economy and jobs, but it was other people who worked through him , but to the person on the other end, the gentile german, with the anglo type ancestry, to them , it was hitler who brought these changes about. he was partly a front man , yet a dictator first and foremost

  • rome, excuse me, not boots, sandals. but you get my point.

  • children? in rome when there was ceaser, the young boys accompanied the soldiers, and they did more than polish the boots. ( according to the stories i have heard) in the middle ages? boys became sailors as soon as they were, what? 12? something like that? and had work just like adults, physical hard work. think of our culture here, and no , it is not even a consideration to use children in war. it is , however a matter of the particular culture, and kids have always been included in wars, sadly.

  • money, and the movement, hitler would say , it lives, well, it looks like its partly like a rock star, group of fans, as we have today, and yet, done with the political need of the people to also reclaim their land from ww1. the versailles treaty was the real anger , and it was also, that the old royalty , type of government, the monarchy was outgrown and yet, they were still in a transition from this to whatever hindenberg represented. the german states were ununited. and so, the dictator came

  • the era and the nazi movement and the decisions of that movement are not the same as todays culture, so much , that it may as well be something that did not even happen on the same planet. can you imagine what hitler would have thought about president obama? who would have considered such a thing in the 1940s? this entire situation was due to a group of factors that came together at the same time. germany was starving, unemployment ran rampant, hitlers national socialist party provided jobs and
