  • I saw this film at the Ritzy in Brixton 20 odd years ago and it's still breathtakingly brilliant and my favourite Kaurismaki of all time, followed closely by "I Hired A Contract Killer" and "Take Care of Your Scarf Tatjana" which stars a Mark Kermode lookalike as a coffee-addicted sewing machinist. What do you mean, you don't believe me?

  • masterpiece

  • Thumbs up if Justin Sevakis brought you here.

  • @slinkylady01 Lulz, I love fellow trolls.

  • @Thjarkvaldur Sorry my bad. At least I didn't say she ends up killing a bunch of people and going to jail, lol. Sorry again.

  • It takes about 10 min until the first words are spoken.Until this point it´s looks like a Education Film.I know how the Film Ending but don´t tell it.You must see the whole Film to understand it.the whole Film is only about 70 min long.

  • @slinkylady01 Why not warn people that you are telling how the film ends? Please write "Spoiler Alert" before telling us something important about movies. Thank you.

  • great great movie...i love you aki!

  • That is an interesting first sequence showing the machinery making the matches.

The match factory girl on the production line reminded me of Charlie Chaplin in "Modern Times".

  • Good movie, but it is very depressing. It does not have the classical happy ending like most films.
