This film explains the concept for the first water-powered hotel. The hotel was designed by RAU architects and Powerhouse Company. In order to minimise the overall energy need of the building, the design is based on passive solar-design principles - the façade is relatively closed towards the south and fully open to the north. Moreover, the building uses a comprehensive system od sensors to detect the presence of humans in the building. Cooling, heating and ventilation is only active in those parts of the building where humans are detected. This reduces the enrgy consumption by up to 40%. The energy demand of the building is covered by an oxy-hydrogen generator running on water. Lab experiments are currently carried out to establish the efficiency of the generator in the built environment.
