Arnold Schwarzenegger, most famous for his role in the Terminator movies, has been replaced by Jerry Brown as the governor of California.

As Schwarzenegger departs public office after seven years, the most populous state in the United States is left with a $28bn hole in its coffers.

Brown, a veteran Democrat who was governor of California in the 1970s and 80s, has pledged a tough budget to try and balance the books.

Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds reports from Los Angeles. (Jan 04, 2010)
