Fair enough, all id say is not every gig runs like clockwork and they have been touring non-stop. Anyways for whatever reason i still enjoyed friday better than edinburgh, prob cos we were all like drooned rats
what can I say doosit29, was in Glasgow for whole weekend, was also at Depeche Mode next night... now that was a gig - one of my top 5 alltime might I add. SSEC was the Minds home crowd following a very successful album, the sound problems shouldnt have taken 20-25mins to resolve, no apology when he came back on, just "are you ready for the 2nd half" last time for me, sad after seeing them live for 20 years.
Have to say colzy although i really enjoyed the castle gig but not as much as the secc on fri. Also seems to be alot of flak directed at the band for the sound problems, whats that all about it wasnt thier fault. And whats the big deal about the encore did u miss the last train or summit, we did but coudnt care less having had such a good nite
I saw Simple Minds on Friday too. I am a MASSIVE OMD fan and thought they were brilliant! They got the crowd going. I love Simple Minds too but felt they were lacking a lot of life on stage-just going through the motions! Wierd considering it was a home gig! Disappointed me!
Ive seen them since the early 80s live and I love every show - warts and all. Personally I dont see anything wrong with having an encore on Friday, they were only off for a minute and you knew it was an encore and not the sound going ogg again.
sorry guys, i have to disagree with you. i was there on friday evening too & having seen them last december at the secc then at the castle in the rain, I felt that the gig was a major let down. Jim seemed to be going through the motions, too say he plays every concert if its their last was a kick in the teeth to the crowd last night. OK there was sound problems but to be offstage for 20mins & stop to have an encore was terrible. they should have played on till the end without another break.
was at the concert on friday night one word awsome as usual but i did think jim voice was slightly flat but they having been touring non stop all summer but none the less the bands energy was as fantastic as ever allso very surprised with omd very very good band live
I was there at the front and loved it!!! Kay xx
