Live improvisation using Doepfer Ribbon Controller R2M connected CV to the Moog Little Phatty.
Position on the ribbon determine pitch and pressure sensitivity controls the filter cutoff.

I used the Modular G2 filters to create a rithmyc drone and the Elektron Machinedrum for drums.
The Roland Alpha Juno2 is connected midi to the Access Virus TI desktop.

Added some reverb and delay using 2 stomp pedals Digitech Hardwire DL-8 and RV-7 and Korg AM8000R.

That's all.
Played one shot.

  • I was thinking about how to control the tuning. Looked on the doepflers homepage and to me it looked as if the controller was without marks. How do you know what place to hit for the proper tone?

  • Superb. Sounds like old school Tangerine Dream. Love it.

  • Wow. Thankyou.

This is the only video featuring musical playing of the R2M. Keep finding ways to express.

Respect to the Jean-Michelle homage ;)

  • that was entirely not helpful.

  • your channel and your music are simply wonderful. a true inspiration. so much atmosphere and space in your music. thank you!!

  • magnifico! insieme ad "analog blues" tra i miei pezzi preferiti

  • Magic music... 5/5

  • This is very inspiring...we should collaborate. I am based in Detroit, MI USA. I have a studio with over 30 synths (Moog, Nord, Korg, Roland, Access, Waldorf, Ensoniq, etc...), and 30+ guitars (Fender, Gibson, Guild, Rickenbacker, Prestige, Heritage etc...). I love this stuff!

  • One question, how do you record your stuff, because its sounding very good ! Any Outboard or plugins ? Which Mixer do you have ? LOve&Respect!

  • I am actually considering buying the R2M.

gattobus, do you know if the signal of the ribbon controller can be read by a musical workstation - more specifically Korg Triton Extreme? What are the requirements for reading the MIDI signal, if you understand what I mean?

The outputs of the control box are CV outputs for 3.5 mm mono jacks, then should I have sockets for 3.5 mm mono jacks in my keyboard as well? All of this cable stuff is messing up my brain since I didn't grow up with analog synths.

  • @flashchrome Use a tuner then tape your own marks on.
