Brilliant acting...good comedy. The only thing the black community achieved by suppressing and banning this show was killing the rerun income for all those actors. Plus instead of these fine actors feeling good about their talent they were made to somehow feel ashamed. What an achievement to have an all black cast at that time. It was no more racist than "the Goldbergs" (Jewish), Beverly Hillbillies, Rosanne (White trash), Archie Bunker, (Irish) etc.

Was it racial stereotyping? Yes. Was it any more of a humiliation to Black Folks than Tyler Perry & the rest of the PC friendly Black sitcoms since then? No.
Stopping the production of this show would've accomplished only one thing. It would have unemployed an entire cast of Black actors and extras. The "tokens' on this show were White. If you have hate in your heart you laughed AT them. If not, you saw the same dumb, White characters you'd see on the 3 Stooges. Censorship doesn't stop racism.

I watched all 3 parts of this episode, and I can't call it racial stereotyping. The material would have been just as funny with white actors.

Pure Genius!!!!!! Without doubt one of the best shows ever. I just can't make myself like Bill Cosby because I heard he was the most instrumental in getting it taken off the air. He said it made black people look bad. If it made them look anything it was fantastic / wonderful.

@Ian7570 Yes, she, Ernestine Wade, was the only performer who was carried over from the radio show.

Just like the "I Love Lucy" episodes, the humor of Amos & Andy has held up pretty good over the years. One of the best comedy shows ever!
