I was recently stuck in a rut and Got out of it by getting a new instrument. Id been playing 5 strings since the late 90s and recently switch to 7 string bass and I can't put it down I have so much fun with it.

I've been in 3 bands over the last 15 years along with working on solo stuff and the most successful as well as the most fun band I was in was not the best group of musicians.

@melodiesband Gahh, I'm exactly the same as you mate, awful fucking feeling :( I end up feeling proper depressed sometimes, especially when I can't learn stuff that other people would know easily (Hysteria in my situation) but I just stick to what I'm most comfortable with. Like Dave says in this video, you don't have to be the best musician to enjoy playing music, I always think of that when this type of shit gets me down. Hope you can get out of your rut eventually man. Peace.

also stuck in a shitty rut...i hang with one of the best band here and when i see them play on stage, i get this shitty feeling like i could never be as good, and then sometimes i see them on stage and go home and play like i never played before... but NOW i just feel like im playing the same crap over and over again, & when i tryed diffrent style of music, it was too hard to learn....but i can still sit for hours playing, but i feel like its going noware cuz its the same old stuff. HELP!!!!!
