At first I thought they (Fred and Pebbles, Wilma doesn't say enough) were having Welches Grape Juice WITH breakfast, but on second review, they're having grape juice FOR breakfast?!?! OK, that could be issues, but maybe they're on a levulose diet (and when Wilma said 'levulose', I had to look it up in my desk dictionary!!). See, animated cartoons CAN be educational!!

  • ..and now you know WHY Pebbles usually asked for "grape juice" in several episodes...Welch's was the primary sponsor of the series from 1963 through '66 [Best Foods, makers of Skippy peanut butter, was the alternate sponsor]. As was the custom back then, the cast of the show usually appeared in an "integrated commercial" for their sponsor's product at the end of the episode.

  • It's rich in levulose! Translation: Grapes have glucose, also called levulose.

  • @42bluey Yes. Commercials are strange here anyway.

  • @Sheri451 boy i cant believe over in the usa they use to use cartoons to sell their products not here in Australia guess its the only way people would buy things

  • I always wondered why Pebbles asked for gape juice as she called it. I guess after she was born, they thought the cigarette commercials were too adult. I guess they dropped Winston and took on Skippy Peanut Butter and Welch's brand. I think I even saw a One A Day vitimin commercial from The Flintstones too. I grew up takinf Flintstones Vitamins. I asked my Garndpa if he liked The Flintsones when he was little, but he told me they didn't have TV when he was little.

  • The Flintstones smoked cigarettes and drank Welch's grape juice. Weird family.

  • "Integrated", in this case, 'Myster', meant the sponsor created a commercial, featuring the stars and/or cast of the show they were sustaining, endorsing their product, making it look like a seamless extension of the episode. This practice continued on most TV shows until the late '60s.

  • @fromthesidelines So what happened to kill integration there?

  • That's why fred is so fat

  • Frozen Juice??? yuk!

also with all that money fred made why is he still living in that dump LOL?
