What we will laugh at is the piffling overall efficiency of IC motors, but we will be yearning for the days of splashing a nice, energy dense liquid fuel into a tank and zooming of in seconds; batteries just don't cut it in terms of energy density or convenience. The motors on the other hand... WOW!

Electric bikes are fantastic; I am a petrolhead myself and love ICE in all its shapes and sizes, but the sooner people get over the nostalgia of the sights and sounds of IC engines and come to terms with the superior performance of electric motors the better. What is holding the technology back currently is not the motors but the battery technology. Ultimately, batteries will never replace combustible fuels in terms of outright convenience and energy density, perhaps a synthesised IC fuel...

Cedric u r my brother man! Ever wondered why there r annoying loud ass scooters but yet no smooth sounding electric bikes or scooters? Some more stress for us all. Cheers.

yh thats pretty much a garantee

@sidewayzskillz ICE won't ever completely disappear. Let's face it, there are still people enthusiastic about steam power. i've had visions of the 'Top Gear' guys enthusing about V8 supercars in cardigans whilst most people are zooming around in serious performance vehicles..

yh i geuss ur right to an extent, but i doubt the ice will completely dissapear any time soon

@sidewayzskillz How fast is this technology developing? Check out the difference between last year and this. Within 10 years, probably 5, anyone wanting real performance will want electric, but I understand the nostalgia for a nearly redundant technology. Some of the best fun I've ever had was tooling a GPZ750R around Phillip Island back in the day. Great sound but all that noise is wasted energy. With constant torque electric puts the power to the road more efficiently. The key to performance.

im not convinced, they probably will for every day life but when it comes to sport ice is to much fun.
but you can always run an ice ethonol, and thats reletavly green
-
@sidewayzskillz of course they will replace the ICE. This is early development and, as such, is making big leaps and battery tech is growing fast. Not only are we running out of fossil fuels, this technology will be infinitely better than dinosaur ICE! It's already close and catching up fast.

this is the future...and more like in 10 years..... good on the tt organisers for staging this race....im looking forward to electric power...no more queing at garages and getting messy with engine oil...this technology will superseed combustion engines, and we will laugh at how we even used them in the first place..
