Christianity and Cognitive Science 6
Each religion has what can be called an immune system, a set of teachings and practices that guard against other beliefs or loss of belief. Cognitive dissonance theory and confirmation bias help us to understand how beliefs can remain unchanged in the face of devastating failures of prophecy or moral failings of leaders.

Truth requires facts to back it up. What part of the modern world that science has brought us do you find not factual?

Theists use & abuse all things science except the science of origins. That''s the last great frontier science will soon answer. 'How' we got here is a question only science can answer with any degree of certainty. All of the other explanations are only mythological.

This video reminds me of how Christian music works. All you hear over and over is the praising of god, or that god saved you, or that your a sinner but Jesus died to save you. The music is repeated over and over and you never get to sing a song about your wife or kids. You cant sing about real life every day stuff. You literally shut your history, friends and family out a sing the same bullshit over and over. Im living in this environment as we speak and going nuts trying to put up with it.

And here we go with the fluff-talk as expected. No I don't want any proof. I know why you believe: Because you were brought up by christians is why.

What you recite here is all very cuddly but it doesn't really support the existence of those characters at all and even less the occurrence of any supernatural events.

Lastly, if there were a god and it really cared enough about me to want me to know it's there it'd know exactly how to go about that. And don't give me "closed minded" now.

has made me a better person. I experience God's love and it has convinced me. I cannot explain my personal experiences enough for you to be skeptic or believe them. But that doesn't matter to me. I believe and trust in God and I know He is here.

You want proof for why I believe in Christianity? Well, like with most things you believe in you need to have some things in common. I love the message and words of the bible. I love how Jesus is the only prophet/central figure of a religion who is sinless, all loving and resurrected Him for mankind. He is the only one who is Son of God and savior of mankind. Christianity deals with one God, teaches to love your neighbour, enemy and total acceptance of others. I like to learn from that and it

Alright: "Oh the potential for delicious irony!"

It just struck me as funny that, in a comment on a video dealing with cognitive bias, you explain how you came to the same wrong position you held in the first place by examining other options.

Because, honestly, to me as somebody who never bought into any of them the evidence for all religions is equally weak. Why might christianity have clicked more with you? It sure smells like you might have ascribed more weight to some of that evidence.

To say that we always will belief what we already believed or been taught is not always right. As an adult we are able to think for ourselves and determine our own thought process and path. Just like many Christians become atheist or muslims who become Christians. I been brought up with the bible but today I believe in Christ by choice. Simply because I compared all religions and ideologies and Chistianity clicks the most with me. Plus the non comparable love of Jesus has convinced me :)
