  • Disney couldn't make movies like this anymore even if they had a mind to... Nowadays this would probably be considered too much for little kids to be able to process, and a scene like this one would be cut altogether. It's a terrible shame, really.

Really, though, there are a lot of old Disney movies that I bet are considered 'too adult' for kids of this generation, like Dumbo, and Fox and the Hound for sure... Probably Bambi too.

Rant aside, this song is incredibly touching.

  • The song hadn't even started and I'm crying my eyes out. I love Dumbo.

  • Never a tear Baby of mine !

  • note that a good number of adult men still cry at this scene in the movie. or at least get teary.

  • I always cry at this scene

  • OMG Why do i torture myself and watch this. I cried hysterically. How do 2 dimensional fictional characters do that?

  • This scene and the one from sword in the stone where the owl is laughing his ass off are two of my favorite disney scenes ..

  • as i 12 year old boy, boys my age "dont cry" because if u do it suposivly show ur not a man... but i always cry when it comes to this part of dumbo... its my fav movie (hope no1 at my school sees this :P) and this is one of my favorite parts i cry everytime i see this.. :)

    DUMBO RULEZ

  • for some odd reason, i don't get that sad watching this scene, like i was sad but not as sad as u think a little kid would get. i always thought the punishment dumbo's mom got was unfair cause the kid went into her encloser and started hrting her baby i think we all would do the same as dumbo's mom did if dumbo was our kid

  • I agree!

Films like this, the ones you mentioned and others like The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Hunchback of Notredame, Sleeping Beauty and the Lion King would all be rated PG if released these days.
