  • Wow, I can't believe they're still discovering new footage of the first world war. Hopefully some more good footage will surface with time. Of course good footage is rare because film was still a new technology. Thanks for uploading this. Any idea where it came from? I know it was locked in a vault, but where, why?

  • @aaronrocs sorry i dont know, im recording the programme thats on sunday night here in the uk, so it should say on the progamme......if you live in UK or have access to BBC the programme is called, 'The First World War from Above'

  • Those high altitude photos are in the British War Museum take by Zeppelins to show how the English Mustard Gas was uncontrollable. It is evident in the large light colored smears on the ground. The first casuties of the gas were the men of the English colonies, the Aussies,Canadians, and Razsha, fighting forces.

  • Woaw! Unbelieveble, I can't imagine the city where I live was like that hundred years ago (Ypres) :o

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I live in this area. My grandfather (1905-2005) was one of the people who rebuilt Ypres after the war.

  • I to would like to see the full footage. I would love to know what airship it was. At thirty seconds if you check out the shadow, it has to be a blimp or dirigible. Because no plane flying then would cast a shadow like that. No wings are shadowed.

  • That pilot had a remarkable story in WW2 as well.

  • Woooow what a precious piece of history. why here in america they dont show stuff like this. this is amazing..

  • I want to see all of this footage uncut.

  • Incredible footage! War sucks, especially when it involves civilians and in such densely populated areas...heart wretching!

  • Thank you for posting

  • will somebody please make a ww1 call of duty
