So if she won 25 mil and walked away with 15 mil, my question is where did the other 10 mil go ? If she would have taken the monthly or yearly payout amount . That money would have been sitting in some kind of an account where the holder (Whoever held the annuity which may have been the state) would have been using that money to make money . So what it seems like is that she wanted the lump sum and her penalty for taking such was a 10 million dollar hit. SMH Sounds like more than a fair share

@darthdrk the 25 mil is the annuity amount. The lump sum is about 15 mil BEFORE taxes. And if you think that's bad, consider the highest tax bracket is 35% for federal income tax and Georgia has a 6% state tax, that's 41% income tax on the 15 mil. Tax on lotto winnings when most people already consider the lotto a tax.
