I'm sorry I disagree with Oprah, I didn't come away feeling Precious went away feeling triumphant and hopeful, I saw her going off into a bleak future with two children, no education (yet) no job, on social assistance, HIV positive with a horrible rotten beginning to her life. What is the future for those children, for her? It was the most depressing movie, although I do feel it should have been made. There MUST BE people who live like that and god help us all if we turn a blind eye to them.

@GabriellaEgypt But, if you think of it that way, it makes you feel more depressed. oprah said that because she basically did. sure, she has a terrible past, but she left with the freedom away from her horrifying mother, healthy children who love her, and a smarter future. she scored a 7.8 on reading level. and hopefully, she will fight as long as she can with HIV. The point of the end was not to feel that she left with a bleak future, but that in a way, she's free.

@GabriellaEgypt Well it was a good movie but I agree, that perhaps the ending could have been more brighter. Otherwise it was a good, honest movie.

hopeful? i agree with gabriellaegypt, precious' future can only be bleak. but she's a strong one, i'm sure if i was in her shoes i would have ended it a long time ago.

yes she is a somebody,my point went over your head..monique was good,if a little ott.but the fat girl has received hardly any acclaim..wtf,,the films ok,it did need a better directer,it was ott.he threw everything at u, then whacked u over the head i don`t think mo will get the oscar.the part is just to showey
