@bikerboomer Dude, seriously, he's right.
Kwakas from this era are delicate until fully warmed up.
If you wanna redline it, do it on the road, my 6 year old nephew can redline my bike at a standstill.

Do you think free reving it is going to make it run better ,Bad to free rev a motor with no load on it ,Also you can wreck your valves,,Young guys should not own the old classic ninjas ,They have no respect for them,

@utilitykiller1972 you are an idiot.

NEVER rev the motor up above 5k when its that cold. Especially on these older bikes. The first gen crotch rockets all had Valve issues like the Valves freezing stuck. I know cause i have owned 2 ninja's. My first was an 85 just like this one and the 2nd one was a 92. The 85's valves froze shut. Even after 2 valve adjustments. And those arnt cheap. About $350 in my area(Atlanta GA). My mechanic quoted me something like $600 to do A valve job. I only paid 1000 for the bike, so I was like no thanks

@csy30076 ive actually done my own valve adjustments, so they are cheap for me... but sure ok.

just how fast is this bike i am thinking of buying one but i just dont know if it will be quick enough i have ridden dirt bikes all my life and am now moving onto the street what do ya think?
hockeyprep22 2 years ago
its fast, it was my first bike, but it all depends on what kind of dirt bikes you rode, comparing a 2 stroke to 4 stroke is a bit odd... this bike was no slouch thats for sure. I loved it. but i love my sv650 now... IF you take good care of them and do the proper maintenance, valve adjusts and everything, then they are great bikes.
