This is a segment that I shot with two other students for our student run television news program. We quickly made some press badges in photoshop, loaded up the car and drove 9 hours to New Orleans. They were turning families away at the military checkpoints, families that just wanted to get back to their homes, but they did allow three students with cameras into the city. This is what we saw. We still have more footage that we may edit into a longer cut, but enjoy this for now.

  • @kungfupokemon123 if you knew how to read you would know that this was made by students... not a news channel...

  • @Gravelandart If the line, in New Orleans, between white people and black people did not so closely resemble the line between rich people and poor people(to put it in general terms) then there probably would not nearly be so much tension. Where I am from, racial unity is much smoother because racial divides do not resemble economic divides. But I am not kidding myself, there is still alot of racism that exists here. The difference is, it is not an overpowering force or factor.

  • @gregb1026

maybe the black people shouldn't be shooting at the cops in the first place.

  • looks worst than chernobyl

  • damn, looks like its been through a nuclear fallout.

  • Horse shit, Im from northern louisiana I new a lot of the guys that were deployed to N.O. the only people that were harrassed were fucking gangbangers.

Oh and the whole reason for taking the citizens weapons away is because early in the relief operation there were reports coming in of helos taking small arms fire.

I live in a pretty successful multiracial city, and theres nothing that "doesn't work" about it, at least not as mush as anywhere else.

The disadvantage of any mono-racial place is that people are more likely to end up fearing/hating "others"
