Well, it's sort of hard to ignore.

This Star Trek movie almost seemed to be targeting a female audience, with all the hot men on these ships. *laughs* I can't say I am complaining though, since I am included in this group of ladies who thoroughly enjoyed the eye candy. Especially Spock, who I must say, is as dashing as always.

Tyler Perry seems truly concerned about how many dicks there are up in here.

Very perceptive of you to latch onto the crux of the issue, it's almost as if pointing out that men outnumber women in modern media is the whole point.

I wonder if anyone commenting actually WATCHED the 2009 movie, because there are other female officers shown (on the bridge too), they just focus on Uhura because of the MAIN characters for TOS, she's the only female. Which is not uncommon for any show or movie, I've found the men always seem to outnumber the women.

Yet another reason why a Star Trek reboot is a bad idea. Having Uhura on the bridge in the first place was progressive in the 60s. In the 2000s, she's a smurphette. Star Trek should be about pushing boundaries, not enforcing the status quo. We need a new Star Trek series that attacks current issues, and pushes older ones to new levels (say, go beyond the single female bridge officer and maybe have a 50% female senior staff). Star Trek should be about the future, not the past.
