Documents released under the Access to Information Act in Canada earlier this month reveal what Canadian activists have long known: that a massive RCMP-led intelligence dragnet worked for 18 months to infiltrate, surveil, and ultimately arrest activists across the country for their participation in Vancouver Olympic and Toronto G20 activism.

Find out more about the history of the Canadian police state in this week's GRTV Backgrounder

  • people really have to remove the mindset of "i`m Canadian" "i`m British" it`s all part of the fiction created by this millenia old plan, countries and coloured flags is part of the fiction..WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS ON PLANET EARTH

  • Look at the Jews in Nazi Germany and how the various groups werer picked off. Can you see the similarities? United we stand, divided we fall.

  • @uranusskies

    Nationalism is socially accepted racism.

  • lol

  • I have done nothing illegal in political actions and have always been very informed and cautious with regards to my legal rights and safety as a politically engaged citizen. Its scary and I fear as much that this comment could add to my folder in police surveillance. The Panopticon is our reality...

  • During G20 we observed only a moment within the legacy of criminalizing our so-called Democratic Freedoms of Speech and to Assemble. I myself was watched and followed by groups of police who clearly had targeted me for speaking out (several camera's acquired my image & words) during this incident with the burning police car, among others.

  • I watched that car being planted, just as I watched innumerable discriminatory profiling (race, gender, physique, perceived sexuality, etc.) of "activists", attacks on vulnerable witnesses at Queen's park and during the now famous kettle technique.. and I've since watched some of my peers - active organizers in this city, disabled by legal fees, house arrests & parole and now jail sentences.

  • I want to thank you Corbett for honoring my words. As the person in the "This is just a photo op.." segment. I was blue in the face trying to engage discourses of effective peaceful protest and highlight the strategies of police provocation which were at play. So many folks have no real awareness of the lineage of developments in direct action both for activists and in policing "protests".

  • @onerealkewlguy G8 and G20 was real out in the open, as far as exposing police spying and police brutality in Canada. There is no excuse for what the police did at those summits.

  • @freedomwv Clearly this has been going on since the 1970's and has changed faces along the way to a new agency called CSIS, so, I guess you're kinda correct, though, how do we excuse what happened at the G8 & G20 summits?

  • I can see Canada from my house (well, roof..) A clear view of the "PEACE BRIDGE" sigh.. I'll bet its the only piece of 'PEACE' left for miles, on both sides.

  • Naomi Klein to police: "Don't play public relations, do your goddamned job!"

    Google it on YouTube

Your bosses got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Your bosses treated the G8 and G20 summit as if it were their own personal ATM machine.
