READ BEFORE VIEWING!!

Some segments of the video are muted because the camera used to record this video ignores the audio input whenever the user zooms in or out. My dad, the recorder, tends to zoom in and out, so I apologize in advance for this inconvinience.

Anyway, this is the 2008-2009 UHS (Orlando, FL) Wind Ensemble performing Asphalt Cocktail, by John Mackey. Enjoy this wonderful performance from our 2009 Spring Concert. By the way, I play first trombone in this piece and boy I am loud. Go T-Bones!!!!

  • The brass had moments of brilliance, i like what the low brass did especially. However, for a percussion dominated piece like this is supposed to be, there was no where near enough. It had some technical flaws, and even in moments that weren't as flawed it lacked energy. Again, go watch NC.

  • I agree, but FYI, Percussion only had 1 week to prepare, and they are coming back from an awesome Indoor Marching Percussion season as 4th in the world in Scholastic A. Anyway, I agree they lacked much energy in this piece.

I watched NC, and wow, you are absoultely right! Also, thank you for commenting on our great brass section. :) Brass rules!

  • For ONLY 1 or 2 weeks of practice, they sound pretty fantastic! Go North Central!

  • by the way thats not North central i was in the north central band and we won state so yeah these people obviously didnt

  • Tubas are the best!!!

  • This band definitely has its redeeming qualities but if you want to hear a GREAT clarinet section and an OUTSTANDING clarinet solo on this piece, check out the North Central wind ensemble playing this. . . no offense clarinets but . . .yeah the effects and bends definitely missed the mark on the solo section. tuning!!!
