  • @MythicDude I think if Aliens was a rip off of Alien... it would have been terrible. The thing that makes Aliens great is that it is something different. The cliche characters are only cliche because of this movie. Alien created horror cliches; Aliens created action cliches. Both movies also follow the same structure but are done completely different, which is what sequels should do. If you didn't notice, both movies kill every character that displayed ignorance. No need for text walls...

  • @magicalangel0 Great.:D

  • @WhtMike2006 Hey, Aliens is a hell of a fun movie but its not a good sequel. Imagine if these days someone saw a movie like, say, Hard Candy and decided to make a sequel but made it with the same tone, style and such as say, Iron Man. Yeh it would be fun to watch and a good movie on its own but the fact that it came from something so different and brillant its own respect, kinda lowers the experiance a little bit. Like I said, Aliens=Good movie, crappy sequel.

  • @WhtMike2006 I disagree. Cameron was a fan of the orginal but wanted to make it "bigger, louder, faster, better!". Theres a lot of cliched characters in Aliens and unnessicary tooth-rottingly sweet parts (etc. "Mommy!", "Can I dream?"). Also the tone and essence of Alien is competley gone in Aliens. The xenomorph is a dark, mysterious, predatory force in Alien but in Aliens theres a massive horde of the them and they all get blow away by a buch of brain-washed, trigger happy jearheads.

  • @MythicDude Aliens does everything a sequel should do. It introduces new elements and furthers the story arc of Ellen Ripley. Everything is a logical progression from the first film and that's why I would consider it canon in a way that the 3rd and 4th films simply don't do. Cameron was obviously a huge fan of Alien and advanced the story with rich characters and a plot that was not only logical but also took Ripley in a direction that was important for her growth as a human being.

  • @MythicDude Eh, okay, fine. On the same token, Aliens is one of the only sequels that is on par with the original. That's much of the reason it gets that praise. If you really love Alien and/or Aliens, watch Youtube user: robag88's film analysis on Alien and Aliens. They are incredible and you will get a new perspective on the films. David Giler and Walter Hill are both credited as story contributors for Aliens and they wrote the final draft of Alien.
