The melody is beautiful, the lyrics heartwarming, and the performance is memorable; but it also expresses the central relationship in the book eloquently. "I Miss Your Purple Hair" has several themes, but at its core it is the story of a very special teenage girl and her devoted father.

By the way, Alyssa Coco composed this song for her own father on his 50th birthday. She not only wrote it, but sings and plays the keyboards as well. Truly one of the most sincere, beautiful and heartwarming songs I have ever heard. She very generously allowed me the privilege of using it to depict the bond between "Violet" and her father (in my book), and I consider that a priceless gift. Alyssa is not only immensely gifted in music, but is one of the nicest people I know.
