Web Junk 2.0 on VH1 features my school board commercial!

Web Junk 2.0, a show on VH1 has an episode called "Animals & Other Crap". They found that first commercial from my school board campaign and featured it! Wouldn't Viacom and Christopher be infringing on the star wars copyrights?

Viacom is such a corporate bully, I couldn't believe they'd force someone to take down the content they stole from them. O_O

Copyright infringement would have taken place if I had used actual elements from the Star Wars movies. I just used store-bought toys as props, did the effects on my own and even created the sounds (the lightsaber hum was an electric razor "shaving" the inside of a metal bowl, then played around with in Adobe Audition).

I was VERY careful about that sort of thing :-)

Seriously, how could Viacom take this down? The Star Wars video was made by HIM, not those Viacom assholes. Here's 3 words that almost every member of YouTube would like to say to Viacom:

I think it's pretty hilarious that a tv station can take a video from the web but people can't take the clip of that video being aired and put it on the web. Ain't that a bitch.

what an interesting story. i first heard about your story from 'nalts' and even went to your blog to read more about it. i was surprised it was back in '07. this really makes me angry that viacom is, to say the least, a bullying non-imaginative hypocritical jerk. *edited for pg13. i'm sure there are more similar stories floating around the web.

Actually Viacom had no right to take the clip down but the owner of the clip has no right to sue either. you need to copyright your work if you want to sue someone for it and most youtube videos are not copyrighted.
