FUSION BY THE SEA - LARISA STOW AND SHAKTI TRIBE PERFORMING AT THE LIVEH2O EVENT IN LONG BEACH. As winner of Los Angeles Music Awards' Singer/Songwriter of the Year, Larisa Stow is known for her thought-provoking, soul-searching lyrics and haunting melodies. Most recently, her passion to integrate the sounds of popular music, world-based rhythms and melodies with the ancient form of Kirtan, devotional call and response music, has driven her to collaborate with Grammy award-winning producer and songwriter, Rick Hahn (Celine Dion). The magic of that union resulted in a compilation of engaging Kirtans that are a seamless blend of east meets west. After being part of the music industry for many years, Shakti Tribe has seen firsthand how music can open people's hearts and minds to new ways of thinking about themselves and others. Music is the 1st place where we can easily go to learn and celebrate other cultures and beliefs. Using music as a means to promote inner peace at a personal level and expanding that out into how we affect one another, can shift our view of the world around us. The purpose of the Shakti Tribe Foundation is to educate, facilitate, empower, and transform individuals and groups through the use of music with messages that focus on creating personal inner states of peace which subsequently generate peace within our families, communities and the world. Our mission is being accomplished through the use of recordings, live performance, and all forms of multi-media. The music that serves as a vehicle for creating peace is a mix of kirtan, mantra, chant, bhajan, raga and uplifting music that specifically blends eastern and western influences. In addition "Peace Prayers," songs that take the text of the world's religions which highlight the common themes of peace, love and hope, are used to educate and inspire individuals to become more open and less fearful of people and traditions that are unfamiliar. ©2009 Larisa Stow and Shakti Tribe.
