In this classic scene from episode #165, "Samantha's Power Failure", which originally aired on March 20, 1969, Serena and Uncle Arthur take a job working in an ice cream parlor making frozen chocolate covered bananas after the Witches Council removes their powers for supporting Samantha's mortal marriage. Featured is Ron Masak as "Buck", in a scene reminiscent of the candy factory scene from "I Love Lucy", which was also directed by William Asher.

Episode Trivia:

Elizabeth Montgomery was a few months pregnant and suffering from morning sickness during the filming of this scene.

The actual segment with the making of the bananas appears to be shot using the three camera method used on "I Love Lucy", unusual because "Bewitched" was ordinarily shot using the one camera method.

  • This episode was made to take the focus off of Darrin and Samantha. Dick York had already left the show due to his severe back pain. It's definitely a cool tribute to the famous I Love Lucy episode.

  • Paul Lynde in a scene featuring chocolate-covered bananas...were the writers making a joke at the expense of the network censors?

  • This scene was a copy of I Love Lucy but William Asher directed both shows!

  • This is one of my favorite episodes

  • Nothing more funny than this show!

Love uncle Arthur and cousin Serena so so much!

  • I love the uncle arthur episodes of Bewitched and this one was my all time favorite.

  • Love this episode

  • When I was about 19, and wasting the afternoon watching reruns of "Bewitched" instead of studying for my economics mid-term, I used to fantasize about smoking a bowl with Serena and Uncle Arthur...
