  • Power 103? Huh.. I suppose this was before WZOU came on the air and took over the Top40/Dance spot?

  • This station became Oldies 103. WZOU replaced WCOZ 94.5 before this, maybe around '85..

  • Hear soneone humming the Theme?

  • Might be Gene Shalit humming at the end

  • @KiddJetix - I would think so..

  • @KiddJetix - I always thought it meant 'HIT'...

  • There was a late afternoon local video show here in Boston on Channel 38, as I recall. Hot Hit Video was its name. I remember a radio ad for it, in which some guy described the very last shot of "Thriller." "He puts his arm around the girl, and everything's all right. But look at his eyes! Look at his eyes!"

  • I worked weekends at WZOU in '85 and I remember they replaced WCOZ in the summer of '84. one of the first songs played was "Lucky Star" by Madonna. CBS had WHTT which was number l at one point and KKHR in L.A. also top 40 at the same time and they changed the format to some form of classic rock on both, apparently because they didn't like the top 40 format.

  • WHTT did play this kind of music before WCOZ changed to WZOU. I knew a DJ that worked for HTT in 1982 and his name was Dick Gunton. In 1984 i remember HTT used to simulcast music videos that were played on TV late at night on Fridays.

WCOZ changed their music in 1983 from rock to classical, but the ratings bombed and then in early 1984 COZ became ZOU and then they began playing Top 40 hit songs, and the rest is history.

  • That WHTT promo was also used by WLUM/Milwaukee during its "HOT 102" days in 1987.

  • I used to listen to that station.
