Every one is covering. Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller wrote this, no matter how folksie it sounds to you folks. Big Mamma did it right, but she did not write it.

Who is the older white man playing the guitar?Looks like an old rock and roller.

talk about burning the house down!!!!............i am am very familiar with big mama's tremendous version, but this FUNKED up version is beyond killer.......the band is just busting a move behind her stoned, freaked out vocal.......wow, wow, wow. definitely one of the best things i've seen on you tube..........just can't stop shakin' my body!!!! ........ who wants to dance......?

@NatashaCBlues Obviously, Macy is covering Big Mama here - Elvis' Hound Dog sounds a lot more like Freddie Bell. Of course, Elvis ending up performing Hound Dog on Uncle Milty's show and a revolution ensued.

You can almost say that Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller literally wrote the book on early rock'n'roll.

She couldn't have been higher when she did this. Speed freak.

awesome
you mean to say, Macy Gray putting a funky twist on Big Mama Thornton's Hound Dog. it was originally blues- rock style, and she stays pretty true to the original.
